’Passive’ equipment within the scope since 1st May 2019!
As of 1st May 2019 stiftung ear – as many European countries - sees so-called ‘passive’ equipment, meaning electrical and electronic equipment that merely conducts currents, within the scope of
.But only end devices are affected by the new regulation that are intended for operation with alternating current of maximum 1,000 Volt or direct current of maximum 1,500 Volt, as for example ready customised extension cords, light switches, sockets, conductor rails for lighting, etc.
If you are a producer of such ‘passive‘ equipment you should apply for corresponding registration if appropriate. ‘Passive’ equipment is to be categorised in categories 4 to 6.
► Important: Components (e.g. cords as bulk goods, cable end sleeves, ring terminals) are still not covered by ElektroG.
Below you will find grouped in sections selected examples of such ‘passive’ equipment that will then be covered by ElektroG’s scope:
Antennae
- Outdoor antennae
- Roof antennae
- Dipol antennae
- Rod antennae
- Telescope antennae
- Cable antennae
- Indoor antennae
Adapters, jacks, connectors
- Adapters (e.g. display port to HDMI, DVI-HDMI, USB to Micro USB)
- Jack adapters (e.g. 6.35 mm to 3.5 mm)
- Low voltage couplers
- Travel plugs
- Telephone junction boxes, telephone adapters
- Adapters
Sockets
...for fixed installation, or respectively attachment (e.g. wall, flooring, machine) or profile rail:
- Antennae sockets, antennae junction boxes
- Power current sockets, heavy current sockets
- Network sockets
- Telephone sockets, telephone outlet
Cables with a plug and socket
- Antennae cables
- Audio cables
- Display port cables
- HDMI cables
- Cable reels
- Cold-device cables
- Small appliances cables
- LAN cables
- Network cables
- Telephone cables
- USB cables
- USB extensions
- Extension cables
Switches, buttons
...for fixed installation, or respectively attachment (e.g. wall, flooring, machine) or profile rail:
- Light switches
- Emergency stop switch/button
Misinterpretation: Passive products to be installed in another equipment – out of scope!
Components not within the scope – regardless of the actuating forms (electronical, electromechanical, mechanical):
Components serving to produce a finished product, or respectively to be mounted in a (then finished) product (the end device). They are therefore determined for installation in a piece of equipment or to be assembled.
Components are unfinished products, without direct function for the end user.
Examples:
- Switches, buttons to be installed in a piece of equipment or for assembly
- Connectors, couplings, sockets to be installed in a piece of equipment or for assembly
- Plugs, jacks for installation in a piece of equipment or for assembly
- Cables as piece goods
- Partly finished cables
- Cable accessories, such as connectors, junction boxes
- Lamp sockets
